It happened so fast; it slipped my grasp, and bam, my favorite coffee cup was on the floor in pieces.
While it may seem trivial, it is an apt metaphor for this transitional time of year.
It was my cup for twenty years—the perfect weight and shape were part of my morning ritual. Its bowl-shaped bottom let my coffee swirl with energy, unlike my collection of square-bottomed mugs—the rich dark liquid a contrast against its white porcelain.
I’ve searched for an exact replacement but found none. There’s no going forward the same way.
I’m left to consider how I consume—not just coffee, but life itself.
Its loss forces me to reflect: What vessels energize me? And what energy do I offer back into the world?
I’ll need to choose which aspects brought me the most joy—and let them guide me toward something new.
As we enter this holiday season and days grow brighter, I ask myself: What will I carry forward? What new vessels will bring me joy and energy?
And you—what will you carry forward and what new vessels will you embrace?
Best wishes for a wonderful Holiday Season and a Joyous New Year!
