Two months ago I attended a seminar. At the time, I felt such gratitude for a new exercise/ritual I learned. AND, I knew how powerful it would be for me to add to my daily routine. It is something simple; it takes less than 2 minutes.
What happened? I changed nothing.
Have you experienced this?
In the book, The Power of Full Engagement, Loehr and Schwartz suggest, “As little as 5% of our behaviors are consciously self-directed. We are creatures of habit and as much as 95% of what we do occurs automatically or in reaction to a demand or an anxiety.”
How do you make something a habit? A variety of research suggests that it takes 21 days to make something a habit.
I’d like to create more good habits. How about you?
Here is the challenge I am committing to: I am going to post on my blog daily whether I followed through – for 21 days. That is how I will hold myself accountable.
Would you like to join me? If so, log an entry on my blog. And come back and comment on your entry whether you followed through or not daily. You don’t have to share the specifics, just whether you followed through.
Here is to more good habits!
Day 1 – success!
Day 2 – success! And, affirmation this is worth doing.
Day’s 1 & 2 So far so good, just 19 to go.
Great!
Day 3- Yes!
Day 4 – Done!
Day 5 – this is such a good tool. This is already becoming a habit!
Day 6 & 7 – Done. At this point I find this is becoming a bigger part of my life. I committed to add to my morning routine. I also find myself doing it later in the day in addition. I need to make posting my success a better habit now!
Day 8 & 9 Good to go. Almost half way to 21 days and it seems to be a habit already.
Day 10 & 11 Check!
Day 12 & 13 Check! I think the next habit I’ll add is logging on to this daily!
Day 14 & 15 Whew this has been a busy time and yet I have stayed with my habit.
Davy 16, 17 Check
Day 18 I am traveling, it was late day but I got it in. Blogging is making me accountable.
Days 19-21 Complete! This was a very worthwhile process. Locked in and done!
